This World Teachers’ Day, we celebrate the Instructors and Instructor Trainers who help people discover greater confidence, freedom, and possibility—both underwater and within themselves.

On October 5, World Teachers’ Day gives us an opportunity to recognize the Molchanovs Instructors and Instructor Trainers who share their knowledge, experience, and love of freediving with communities around the world.
We asked members of our instructor community a simple question: Why did you become a Molchanovs Instructor?
Their answers reveal that teaching freediving is about far more than technique or performance. It's about helping people feel safe, transform fear into confidence, expand their sense of what’s possible, and discover a deeper connection with themselves and the water.
Here’s what they shared.

Gonzalo Cortes
Molchanovs Wave 3 Instructor Trainer
“I became a Molchanovs Instructor because I’m passionate about sharing the knowledge I’ve gained through years of training as an athlete, my love for the ocean, and bringing as many people as possible into the beauty of a salty life.”
Brad Stephens
Molchanovs Wave 4 Instructor Trainer
“I became a Molchanovs instructor because freediving shaped my life and changed my sense of what's possible, and there's no greater reward than watching a student discover the same thing about themselves. If the sport has shaped you too, become the instructor who opens that door for someone else.”
Jack Webb
“I became a Molchanovs instructor because I love helping people understand themselves more and break their beliefs about what they think they can do with ease.”

Hua Yang Huang
“I became a Molchanovs instructor because I wanted to keep learning, to understand freediving more deeply, and to share what this journey has taught me with others.”
Nusy Horvath
“I became a Molchanovs Instructor because I experienced firsthand how powerful it can be when you’re given the right knowledge and tools to discover your potential. I wanted to become that person for others and help them experience the freedom, confidence, and connection that freediving has given me.”

Robert Garcia
Molchanovs Wave 3 Instructor Trainer
“I became a Molchanovs instructor to merge my corporate training background with my deep love for freediving, allowing me to share the life-changing freedom of the sport with others. Becoming an Instructor Trainer took that passion a step further, allowing me to mentor the next generation of instructors.”
Gyu Sik Choi
Molchanovs Wave 3 Instructor Trainer
“Through Molchanovs, I learned that freediving is not about pushing beyond your limits, but about gradually expanding the range in which you can feel calm and comfortable underwater. Because I experienced that transformation myself, I became an instructor to help more people discover freediving in a safe, relaxed, and enjoyable way.”
Maria Zosa
Molchanovs Wave 3 Instructor Trainer
“I became a Molchanovs instructor because I’ve always wanted to help people become confident, capable, and independent divers. To me, freediving is more than just a sport. It’s a way to better understand ourselves.”

Why will you become an instructor?
Each Molchanovs Instructor has a personal reason for teaching, but they share a common purpose: helping others experience freediving safely, confidently, and meaningfully.
If freediving has shaped your life, becoming an instructor is an opportunity to pass that experience on—to help someone discover their potential and open the door to a new world.
