Lanyards are crucial for freediving safety and required for depth training and competitions. Before 2001, athletes often used unreliable homemade versions. As their safety role became clear, lanyards were redesigned for better function and reliability.
When you hear the word freediving, what image comes to mind?
For many of us at Molchanovs International, we picture Alexey Molchanov, our co-founder, diving an incredible 131m (430ft) of depth wearing his signature gold-accented monofin. The monofin itself is a perfect representation of grace, speed, and depth as its shape is so similar to that of sea mammals, our very distant diving cousins. Molchanovs International is also well-known for the monofin, which was the first piece of freediving equipment created by Alexey and his mother, Natalia Molchanova, even before the Molchanovs International brand was created in 2010. Since the birth of the Molchanovs monofin, dozens of national and world records have been set with it.

Alexey Molchanov recognized that freedivers needed another option with monofins - one that lets freedivers experience, learn, and train proper monofin technique with more power and propulsion than short bifins provide (which are often used to train the monofin basics). And so, the CORE Silicone Monofin was developed. So why does every freediver need one?

Finally - it’s time to leave the real world behind and go on your first-ever freediving trip! But wait - what to bring?
It can be an exciting week leading up to your first freediving trip, but it can also be stressful if you’re unsure what to pack! You definitely don’t want to get caught far from home and not have the gear you need - but you also don’t want to overpack because freediving gear is heavy, and airlines have hefty fees for overweight bags.
