As a freediver, you know the only way to improve is through consistent training. Many of you will spend hours meditating, stretching, doing dry breath work, in the pool or the ocean, just to eek out a couple more metres or seconds than last time. But the brain is a fickle thing. Some days, it is hyper-focused on our goal. Other days, it may focus on everything, or nothing at all.

The 15th edition of Vertical Blue took place on July 1 - 11 in Dean's Blue Hole in Long Island, Bahamas. Since its inception in 2008 by world record holder William Trubridge, Vertical Blue has been one of the rare privately-held freediving competitions with world record status, Diveye, and an online broadcast.



From competitive freediving’s humble beginnings in 1949 to the jaw-dropping depths athletes are reaching 75 years later: six depth disciplines have emerged to test every aspect of freediving technique.
