Lap/ Wave 3 Instructor Requirements
To apply to be a Molchanovs Lap/Wave 3 Instructor, you’ll need to have:
- An active Lap/Wave 2 Instructor certification (or equivalent from other agencies).
- At least 1 year of teaching experience as a Lap/Wave 2 Instructor (or equivalent from other agencies).
- Minimum of 50 certifications (minimum 10 Lap/Wave 1 certifications and 10 Lap/Wave 2 certifications). Certifications from other agencies will count as 50%, meaning you’ll need a minimum of 100 certifications.
Lap/Wave 3 Instructor physical requirements
The physical requirements to pass the Lap/Wave 3 Instructor Course/Crossover are as follows.
Lap 3 Instructor (L3I)
- STA 4’30”
- DNF 75m (246ft)
- DYNB 110m (361ft)
Lap/Wave 3 Instructor (L/W3I)
- L3I physical requirements
- CWTB & FIM 50m (164ft)
- CNF 35m (115ft)
- Rescue 30m (98ft) + Surface Tow 50m
- Stand-by Rescue 20m (66ft) min. 60 seconds
Note that these are minimum performance requirements, and the expectation is that L/W3I candidates should be able to meet these standards in a reasonably comfortable manner and with good form.
