Kalamata, Greece, 15 September 2020 - Two new World Records in Constant Weight Bi-Fins by Alenka Artnik from Slovenia and Arnaud Jerard from France were announced at the CMAS Freediving European Record in Kalamata, Greece. Jerard’s dive surpassed the World Record dive made by Alexey Molchanov from Russia just days before at the International Adriatic Freediving Competition in Croatia. All freedivers broke the previous World Record using the new Molchanovs CB2 Carbon Fins.
Alenka Artnik dived to a depth of 94m (308ft), Alexey Molchanov to 111m (364ft), and Arnaud Jerard to 112m (367ft). All are ambassadors and athletes of Molchanovs, and used the new Molchanovs CB2 Carbon for their record-breaking dives. This makes a total of 54 World Records to date that have been completed with Molchanovs freediving equipment.
“I was using a very tight sport fit for my dive, but with new, super comfortable inside lining. Even though the standard sized foot pocket was three sizes smaller than my normal size, it didn’t bother me. I could feel the new blade through the tip of my toes like a natural extension of my body. The CB2 Carbon are the most efficient bifins I have ever made,” said Alexey Molchanov, co-founder of Molchanovs.
Alexey Molchanov uses his own expertise from over three decades of being a competitive swimmer, fin-swimmer, and freediver in designing his equipment. He and his team at Molchanovs collected feedback from the strongest athletes around the world, observed videos of their dives, analyzed the biomechanics, and tested the fins with each small update during the development process, which took two years. Updates to the CB2 Carbon include comfort and design changes in the new, hand-built foot pockets, along with a new shape and component quality of the blade. These upgrades benefit proper finning technique for dynamic and depth bifin performances.
Our mission at Molchanovs is to share our love of freediving with the world. We do this by cultivating the level of knowledge and skill of all freedivers, by building global and local communities that fuel passion for freediving, and by developing gear that provides the best freediving experience possible.
